President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Friday present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint sitting of the National Assembly in Abuja.
The budget presentation is scheduled to hold at 2:00 pm, according to an internal memo issued by the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Mr Kamorudeen Ogunlana.
The directive, signed on his behalf by the Secretary of Human Resources and Staff Development, Essien Eyo Essien, notified lawmakers and staff of the arrangements ahead of the presidential address.
In the memo, the Clerk conveyed that the President, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, would formally lay the proposed 2026 budget before both chambers of the legislature during the joint session.
To ensure smooth proceedings and tight security, all accredited personnel have been instructed to report to their duty posts no later than 11:00 am, as access to the National Assembly complex will be restricted thereafter.
The memo further advised non-accredited individuals to stay away from the complex on the day of the presentation, except for key legislative officials, including the Clerk to the National Assembly, the Deputy Clerk, the Clerk of the Senate, the Clerk of the House of Representatives and their deputies.
In addition, staff members have been directed to park their vehicles only at designated areas within the National Assembly annex or the newly designated car park near the complex gate.
The annual budget presentation marks a critical stage in the federal government’s fiscal planning process, setting the tone for economic priorities and public spending in the 2026 financial year.
