Tinubu, who spoke at Chatham House on Monday, addressed the British Royal Institute on Nigeria’s 2023 elections; national security, economic, and foreign policy imperatives.

The former Lagos State governor was in the company of Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, Cross Rivers State governor Ben Ayade, former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi Jigawa State governor, Abubakar Badaru, a spokesperson for the APC presidential campaign council Dele Alake and other members of the APC

Responding to questions after his speech, Tinubu refuted claims that he falsified his age as alleged by his critics and opponents.

The former Lagos State governor said his family background, and academic and career records are consistent and verifiable.

Tinubu said the time of his birth is dated March 29, 1952 and that he hails from “The Tinubu, the proper Tinubu” of Lagos.

“I’ve had a very good exposure in life, my record is consistent in the school, in the university, they (critics) are now convinced that they wasted their money and their time,” Tinubu said. “The record is there, the transcript is there showing March 1952.

“I’m not claiming another father, I am Tinubu and Tinubu proper. If they want a DNA, they could as well request from us. One of them has even been accused of not being a Nigerian citizen, I didn’t touch that area.

“Equally, it remains the same, Deloitte, Chicago State University where I graduated from has attested to that. Now, I can announce that I have received my original replacement degree certificate from them.

Tinubu added that none of his contenders can match his professional records which he described as “outstanding”.

“Deloitte trained me as an accountant. Mobil Oil has attested to my record, outstanding record, I got to the pinnacle of my career in the private sector. Who among them can brag about that?”

Tinubu recalled his experience in the fight for democracy against the military government in Nigeria and assured that he will not be a party to undemocratic tendencies if elected Nigeria president in the 2023 election.

“I have long fought against electoral malpractice, any attempt to extinguish the legitimacy of choice of voters. I will continue to do so, I promise,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu expressed confidence that he will be elected Nigeria president in 2023 amid strong opposition from former vice president Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party and other candidates.

“I am confident that Nigerian people will go to the polls in few months to give me their mandate,” Tinubu said.

Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election is slated for Saturday, 25 February, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
