I am pleased with our deliberations for the future of our dear country – Tinubu
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited foremost traditional rulers in Ekiti state in furtherance of his presidential ambition on Thursday.
The APC stalwart held consultation with the State Council of traditional rulers at the Council’s Chambers, Old Governor’s Office before he paid a courtesy visit to Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe in his palace.
The former Governor was accompanied to the meeting by Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi and high ranking members of the Southwest Agenda 2023 for Tinubu Presidential ambition led by Senator Dayo Adeyeye.
Addressing the traditional rulers, Tinubu said he was in the State purposely to consult traditional rulers and seek their prayers and support for the 2023 elections.
Tinubu noted that he decided to contest for the presidency primarily to usher in hope for Nigerians irrespective of their social status, ethnic, religious and socio-cultural affinity as well as bring genuine change to the country.
He said the country needs a leader fully equipped with competence, experience, administrative acumen and leadership skills, who can safely unite the people, tackle insecurity and revamp the debilitating economy for the benefit of the masses
“I’m contesting this race to renew the hope and make the future great for our children. For Nigeria to stand united and develop, we require patience and wisdom. We have to be united, that is the only way we can be great.
“That was why we formed APC based on principles. I want to tell you that Nigeria needs serious change.
“I knew how Lagos was when I took over and we had never failed any election. There must be continuity in governance for progress to be attained.
“I was the first Governor in Nigeria to start paying the WAEC fee of secondary school students. I shall do it again as a President”.
Tinubu added that he decided to consult the traditional rulers first before making official declaration because of enormous respect he places on culture, value and tradition.
