2023: Display of preliminary register of voters ends August 21 – INEC

With the preparations for the 2023 general elections in top gear, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that the display of the fourth quarter preliminary register of voters (PVR) ongoing at the INEC Local Government offices nationwide will end on 21st August, 2022.

With the preparations for the 2023 general elections in top gear, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that the display of the fourth quarter preliminary register of voters (PVR) ongoing at the INEC Local Government offices nationwide will end on 21st August, 2022.

The Commission revealed this in a statement issued via its official Facebook page on Thursday.

The exercise is coming on the heels of the conclusion of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which formally closed on July 31, 2022.

INEC had said at the conclusion of the voter registration that the commission would undertake a clean-up of the register to remove multiple registrants using the Automated Biometric identification System (ABIS) and display the register for public scrutiny.

According to INEC, display of the preliminary register of voters allows voters to check if they were duly registered to vote, which may warrant the need to contact the Electoral Officer (EO) to request for an amendment to a voter’s details as they appear in the PRV.

“The display of the PRV will provide the opportunity for claims and objections against the inclusion or omission of names in the register, check and verify whether their names, photographs and other details appear correctly in the PRV, file any complaint in relation to any necessary correction required of a name or details incorrectly entered in the PRV, file any complaint, claim or objection in relation to the names omitted or included in the PRV,” the commission said.

It reminded members of the public that the exercise was free.
