Two cameramen on Thursday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly
collecting N90, 000 from a woman on the pretext of providing a video coverage of her 50th birthday.
The accused — Oluwaseyi Lawson, 38, and Steven Olatunbosun, 33 — are standing trial on two-count charge of
conspiracy and breach of peace.
The duo, according to the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Dada Wasiu, committed the offences on March 3 at Ogba in Ikeja
area of Lagos.
He said the accused charged the complainant, Mrs Funmi Orekoya, the sum of N120,000 for the video coverage for which
she made a deposit of N90,000.
“The duo promised to deliver the video tape of the coverage after two weeks but failed to do so.”
Wasiu said the complainant went to their house after two months to ask for the tape, the accused told her that the
video had been corrupted after a virus attack.
The offences violated Sections 168 and 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. (Revised)
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 168 stipulates two years imprisonment for breach of peace.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. K. Dosumu, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with one
surety each in like sum.
Dosumu said the sureties should be gainfully employed and adjourned the case until June 4.
