Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA has intensified its push for environmental discipline as Executive Chairman, Dr. Seyi Jakande, unveiled a comprehensive enforcement drive tagged “Operation Clean Up Our Environment.”

The initiative signals a firm commitment by the council to promote a cleaner, safer, and healthier community, with the chairman declaring an uncompromising stance against environmental violations.

“We will not allow our shared spaces to become dumping grounds,” Jakande stated, stressing that acts of negligence and environmental abuse will no longer be tolerated.

As part of the operation, personnel of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Waste and Recycling Services (OWARS) have been deployed across key locations, including major roads and pedestrian bridges, to enforce sanitation regulations, clear waste, and restore order.

The chairman also condemned the growing misuse of pedestrian bridges—particularly at Vono (Ilupeju), Idẹra/Agunbiade, and Hanson/Tollgate—describing the situation as unacceptable. He warned that offenders risk strict penalties, including fines of up to ₦100,000.

The enforcement drive follows a recent engagement between Jakande and Conference 57, where council leaders reaffirmed their commitment to environmental management in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive for improved sanitation across Lagos.

The renewed campaign marks the beginning of a sustained effort by the LCDA to strengthen sanitation standards, safeguard public health, and restore environmental dignity.
