
As part of efforts to promote girl-child welfare and advance grassroots impact, the Councillor representing Ward E, Oregun, and Deputy Leader of the Onigbongbo Legislative Arm, Hon. (Mrs.) Khadijah K. Dosunmu, popularly known as YKK, has distributed free sanitary pads to female students of Oregun High School in commemoration of the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child.

The initiative, held on October 10, 2025, is part of YKK’s ongoing commitment to improving the lives of young girls through access to essential hygiene materials and sustained sensitization on menstrual health and personal hygiene. She noted that the exercise will continue in phases to reach more schools and girls within the ward.
Addressing the students, Hon. Dosunmu encouraged them to remain focused on their education and personal development, describing education as “a treasure more valuable than gold.” She also emphasized the importance of proper hygiene and confidence during their menstrual periods.

The event was graced by top community and council leaders, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Shamsideen Oloyede Akerele; Leader of the House, Hon. Francis Nkwo; Majority Leader, Hon. David Olamide Orukpe; CDC Chairman, Hon. Kunle Oluwo; Elder Godwin Oreme; Hon. Folorunsho Moses; as well as members of the YKK Team and residents of the community.
Hon. Dosunmu reaffirmed her dedication to inclusive, people-centered governance and continuous empowerment of young girls through education and health-focused initiatives.
