The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Dealers Association (RADA) came together in a display of rare solidarity to commemorate World Ozone Day 2023.

The joint endeavour reinforces a shared dedication to preserving the environment and safeguarding the invaluable ozone layer.

In his address at the event held today in Surulere, Lagos, the Acting General Manager of LASEPA, Mr. Kayode Bello said this year’s theme, “Montreal Protocol: Fixing the Ozone Layer and Reducing Climate Change”, mirrors the global endeavour to curb ozone-depleting substances and underscores the pressing need to address climate change mitigation.

He explained that the Montreal Protocol stands as a testament to the potential of international collaboration and the remarkable outcomes achievable when nations unite for the greater good.

Bello, represented by Mrs. Adebayo Adebayo reiterated the commitment of LASEPA to rejuvenate the ozone layer and diminish the impacts of climate change, adding that the Protocol’s measures have substantially curbed greenhouse gas emissions, making a significant contribution to climate protection.

According to him, the Lagos State Government has actively embraced the global initiative to phase out ozone-depleting substances through concerted efforts, saying that “Together, we can pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come”.

“LASEPA remains steadfast in its mission to heighten awareness about ozone depletion, foster collaboration, build partnerships, and advocate for global cooperation in achieving the common goal of preventing further ozone layer degradation”, he added.

The event also witnessed the active participation of other associations including Cooling Part Dealers Association (COPDAS) and the National Association of Refrigeration and Air Condition Practitioners (NARAP), among others.
