World Food Day: NCWS headlines Aisha Buhari, 36 states reps for summit Monday

As the world prepares to celebrate the World Food Day, Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has been headlined to grace “1st National Unity Food Fair” slated for October 15th – 17th, 2018, at National Women Development Centre, Abuja.

In a statement, President National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Gloria Laraba Shoda, stated that the food fair is in conjunction with Travel Marketing Partners. She also disclosed that over 36 states representatives from private sectors, relevant ministries and agencies are expected at the event.

Shoda, however, explained that “this event conceived to enhance the present administration’s efforts towards food self -sufficiency as well as diversification of the economy.

“The National food fair is targeted at tackling the perennial food shortage in some part of the country. Also, aimed at highlighting the importance of food to humanity, to fight hunger and poverty”.

She further stressed that the objectives of the food fair is for the promotion of popular Nigeria dishes from various sections of the country, to encourage culinary exchanges among Nigeria ethnic groups for national integration and to educate Nigeria families on balance food and good eating habits.

Also, identifying and empowering women with talents for Nigeria cuisine, to use this platform to generate, demand, enhance and increase employment among women, to boost government’s National Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), and to compliment government’s efforts in the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
