Wife of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat has emphasised the need for women to be dutiful as mothers to their children and professionals in various fields, as well as greatly perform their roles as helpmates to their spouses.

In her goodwill message at the 13th Arise Women Conference, with the theme: “Revive,” held on Saturday, Mrs Hamzat said it was important for women to be effective in performing their noble roles in the society.

“My sisters, the message to us is clear. This is time for us to revive, and be conscious of our roles, responsibilities and duties. Enough of our slumber and our sleep. Let us be seen and be effective in performing those noble roles as wives, mothers, pastors, heads of organizations and helpmates to our spouses.

“The Holy books have always admonished us to always seek the face of God to renew the right spirit within us and for us to live an exemplary life by doing what is right, loving our neighbours as ourselves, be helpers to someone in need, stop dragging down or despising our fellow women, help in lifting or contributing meaningfully to women cause, as well as being dutiful wives, respectable in your own corner, above all, accept whom you are and your accomplishments in life.

“As women, we can also be spiritually revived or renewed when we continually pray for our families, State and Nation; meditate always, ensure we read our scriptures or other inspirational materials, attend worship services, have conscious acts of forgiveness and be a friend to someone we can trust,” she said.

Mrs Hamzat said she was particularly delighted with the theme of the Arise Conference this year, saying it was in line with the theme of the just-concluded 21st Annual National Women’s Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) which was “Awake!”

She, therefore, commended the Convener of the Arise Conference, Pastor Siju Iluyomade for her passion for the emancipation of women in the society, just as she prayed for God’s strength for women to excel in all sphere of life.

“I once again appreciate my sister, Pastor, Dr. Siju Iluyomade, the beautiful women gathered here and all those God has used to inspire us at this spiritual yet enlightening programme on how effective we can revive and be counted worthy in the society,” Mrs Hamzat said.
