As part of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Women Empowerment Policy, the Executive Chairman of the most urbanized local council in sub-Saharan Africa, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal in his bid to further create more job opportunities has recorded another landmark with the distribution of Point of Sales (POS) machines for creation of self-employment to some residents of the local council.
Each of the Point of Sales machines has been preloaded with the sum of fifty thousand naira as a starting capital for each of the beneficiaries.
At the distribution ceremony which took place at the Local Government Secretariat, the Council Mayor advised recipients to utilize this rare opportunity very well. He informed the gathering that this business is very lucrative in the present time and it has become the source of living for many Nigerians.
The Head of the Department, of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) while informing that the local government will sustain this gesture with more intervention in the future to beneficiaries that perform well on their POS terminal as well as establishing more people to join the lucrative business.
The beneficiaries appreciated the local government administration for this timely Empowerment programme and as well pledged not to only take good care of the machines but to ensure that the business continues to grow from the initial fifty thousand naira capital to several thousand.
