With sporting activities there would be work balance and effective service delivery – Muri- Okunola

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri – Okunola has called on all tiers of Government to embrace sporting activities among the public servants, saying that it is one of those things that could bring unity, peace and harmony in our Country.

Muri – Okunola disclosed this during the finals of the table- tennis competition for the men and women singles which was played in commemoration of the on-going Head of Service Games, held at Adeyemi – Bero Auditorium, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

In the table – tennis singles for women, Miss. Odusanya Bose, of the Public Service Office (PSO) came first with four straight win by defeating her counterpart Dr. Nariwoh Oluwaseun from the Lagos State Sports Commission, while Mr. Alabi Abdulkadri from the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) also came first in the men single when he logged it out with his counterpart from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

While addressing the press at the competition, Mr. Hakeem Muri – Okunola noted that it is through sporting activities that there could be well- being and wellness of the public servants in the State adding that the on-going HOS Games has been improving yearly with various activities that were included
and which enables public servants to show their skills and other talents.

“With what we witness here today, am assuring you that the annual HOS Games shall continue to get better, it is the supports of all the past Head of Service who conceptualized this motion of games and we must aspire to make it continue’’

“ The on-going HOS Games which had started since August has been amazing and there is going to be so many other activities to motivating workforce and uniformity to include other sports which all the civil servants likes so as to show their skills and bring about team spirit among the public
servants’’ he stated.

The Head of Service however commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment and supports to the entire workforce of the Lagos State public service in ensuring that there is work balance for effective service delivery among the public servants in the State.

The winner for the women single, Miss. Odusanya Bose Oluwabunmi, thanked the Lagos State Government for the opportunity she has to show her skills through this year’s HOS Games and for also allowing her to improve
better on what she knows doing best.

She however stated that more of the competitions should be done in the State adding that there should be State Award to motivate all those who participate in any of the sporting activities in the State.

She maintained that she is so happy to be the overall winner for the women single in the table- tennis and thereby dedicate her victory to the Lagos State
Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri- Okunola for his support.

In his remarks, the winner for the men single, Mr. Alabi Shehu Abdulkadri, noted that his victory was a misery stating that he had experienced a lot of challenges before he could get to the final stage and he however thank the State Government for the privilege he got through the HOS Games.

He thereby urged the organizing committee not to relent in their effort by ensuring that there is continuity in the competition.
