The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has reiterated his commitment towards ensur ing that the youths of Somolu are given the needed attention where and where necessary.
The council chairman and the Agba-Akin of Agboyi- Kingdom who was represented by the Supervisor for Agric and Sports, Hon. Hector Ayo-Coker made this assertion during the official opening ceremony of A-4 Day Free ICT/Tech skills shop organized by the Somolu Local Government in conjunction with TechSheperd to upscale the teeming youths in the area of ICT/Tech.
He continued, “Tech shops are online resources that offers courses to help the youths to develop their skills in the areas of technology such as programming, Web development and computer science”.
“This free resources provide a great opportunity for individuals to gain valuable knowledge without having to pay any tuition fee with our resource person ready impart our youth positively”.
“Today, we are teaching our youths how to fish rather than giving them fish to eat because they can only have a meal when we give them fish but teaching them how to fish on the other hand will give them a lifetime opportunities”. He enthused.
Similarly, the representative of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund LSETF), Mr. Hansen Moses described the initiative as one of the initiatives that align with Lagos State Employer-bility programmes and as such, the agency of government would be available to give the youth the necessary support in achieving their career goal.
“What it means is that, as long as you’re interested in learning skill acquisition, we’re here for you. Lagos state Employment Trust Fund is here for all the youth in the state”.
“One of our key programmes that we’ve been running over the years is our ‘Employer-bility initiative. We also in the recent times, organized a Tech-programme where laptops were given out to lucky participants. We have programmes for all the youth as long as you’re made up your mind and ready to learn”.
