The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) will officially resume operations on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, following a temporary suspension to enable essential maintenance and safety checks.

In a statement issued by the Corporation, the NRC explained that the suspension allowed for critical repairs, system checks, and rolling stock maintenance, all aimed at enhancing passenger comfort, safety, and reliability.

According to the release, the online ticketing portal — https://nrc-fane.ng — will reopen at 12 noon on Monday, October 27, 2025, giving passengers a 48-hour window to book tickets ahead of the resumption. Commuters are encouraged to secure their tickets early either online or at designated train stations.

Operations will resume with seven coaches — comprising six standard-class and one business-class — while a new train timetable reflecting temporary speed restrictions (TSR) for safety and operational monitoring will also be released on Monday.

The NRC expressed appreciation to passengers and stakeholders for their patience during the service suspension and apologized for the inconvenience caused.

The Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to providing safe, efficient, and dependable rail services, assuring passengers that the Warri–Itakpe corridor is now fully ready for smooth operations.

“The Nigerian Railway Corporation remains steadfast in its mission to deliver reliable rail transport that meets international standards,” Dr. Opeifa stated.
