Vice President Kashim Shettima and other West African leaders are currently at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi, Sierra Leone, for the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS.
The Vice President is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the high-level meeting hosted by Sierra Leonean President and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority, Julius Maada Bio.
“Other leaders at the summit include Presidents Romuald Wadagni of Benin, José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, Adama Barrow of The Gambia, John Dramani Mahama of Ghana, Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau, Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire, Joseph Boakai of Liberia and Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal, as well as Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo,” Shettima’s aide, Stanley Nkwocha, said in a post on X on Sunday.
President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group and Chairman of the ECOWAS Business Council, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, are also attending the meeting as special guests.
The summit is expected to consider critical issues affecting the region, including peace and security, democratic governance, economic integration, trade, infrastructure and sustainable development.
