The Executive Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, on Thursday led the distribution of food palliatives to residents of Ward F, Alausa, as part of the Ward of the Presidency initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking during the exercise, Omisore said the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that the dividends of governance reach people at the grassroots, particularly during the current period of economic adjustment.
He noted that the distribution of food items was not only meant to provide relief but also to demonstrate the government’s care, compassion and solidarity with citizens.
According to him, the programme is designed to cushion the impact of ongoing economic reforms while supporting vulnerable households within the community.
Omisore commended residents of Ward F, Alausa, for their resilience and continued support for the vision of progress and development both at the community and national levels.
He further emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu aims to reposition Nigeria’s economy, create opportunities and ensure a better future for citizens, adding that support initiatives such as the food palliative programme are intended to assist families during the transition period.
The Vice Chairman urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items distributed and encouraged community leaders to continue promoting unity, cooperation and peaceful coexistence among residents.
He also expressed appreciation to the Presidency for extending the support to residents of Ward F, assuring that the leadership of Ikeja Local Government would continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that welfare programmes reach those who need them most.
In his remarks, the Councillor representing Ward F and Majority Leader of the Ikeja Legislative Council, Hon. Ganiyu Lawal, expressed gratitude to the Vice Chairman for facilitating the distribution of the palliatives, particularly during the Ramadan fasting period which coincides with the Christian Lenten season.
Lawal noted that Ward F is the ward of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that extra efforts are being made to support vulnerable residents, especially as the Vice Chairman also hails from the same ward.
