Union Bank of Nigeria has been honoured with the Best SME Growth Banking Initiatives Award 2025 by the Association of Small Business Owners of Nigeria at the Nigeria National SME Business Awards held in Lagos.
The award recognises the Bank’s strategic role in supporting the growth and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises through innovative banking solutions tailored to business expansion and long-term value creation.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Bank, Ayokunnumi Abraham described the recognition as a testament to Union Bank’s dedication to empowering SMEs across Nigeria.
According to him, the Bank has continued to simplify banking processes for businesses through improved digital platforms and customer-focused solutions.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition, which reflects Union Bank’s continued commitment to helping SMEs grow by making banking simpler, faster, and more accessible,” he said.
Abraham explained that enhancements to the Bank’s specialised platform, Union360, have significantly reduced onboarding timelines for businesses, improved digital adoption among SME customers, and supported the acquisition of new business clients.
“Our focus remains on delivering practical solutions that help Nigerian businesses thrive,” he added.
The Nigeria National SME Business Awards was organised by ASBON in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment and brought together stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to celebrate individuals and organisations contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s SME ecosystem.
Union Bank reaffirmed its commitment to deepening support for SMEs through customer-driven solutions and innovative banking processes aimed at strengthening business growth across the country.
Established in 1917, Union Bank remains one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, known for its “Simpler, Smarter Banking” philosophy and expansive network of over 300 branches nationwide.
