Nigeria and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening agricultural trade and investment through a strategic partnership aimed at boosting productivity, competitiveness, and economic growth in both countries.
Speaking at the Nigeria Now Conference organised by the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), U.S. Consul General Rick Swart joined leading Nigerian agricultural stakeholders to advance collaboration in agribusiness, with a focus on expanding trade, investment, and shared prosperity.
A key highlight of the partnership is USSEC’s Soy Excellence Center, which has trained more than 5,000 Nigerian agro-professionals across the poultry, aquaculture, swine, and animal feed sectors. The programme equips participants with globally recognised skills and best practices to enhance productivity, drive innovation, and improve competitiveness in international markets.
The initiative reflects a shift from traditional aid to commercially driven partnerships, promoting sustainable growth by strengthening local capacity while creating new opportunities for American agricultural exporters.
Officials described the collaboration as a mutually beneficial model that supports Nigeria’s agricultural transformation, enhances food security, and deepens bilateral trade relations.
The conference underscored the growing importance of strategic U.S.-Nigeria commercial partnerships in unlocking investment opportunities and fostering long-term economic resilience in the agricultural sector.
