The Nigeria Women U-20 team, the Falconets, defeated Korea Republic 0ne nil to secure a quarter-final ticket of the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Sunday night in Costa Rica.
Esther Onyenezide’s thunderous strike from just outside the penalty box in the 82nd minute was enough to earn Nigeria’s Falconets a deserved win against South Korea
Following a bright performance in their group opener against France, the Falconets now top the table of Group C with six points and two goals after winning two matches.
Korea, who also had a strong start with a 2-0 victory over Canada.
While France also plays Canada on Sunday.
