Troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, have successfully rescued Mrs. Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, who was abducted alongside her husband by bandits several weeks ago.
The rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue operations by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA as part of ongoing efforts to track down the criminal elements responsible for the attack. During sustained offensive operations, troops made contact with the bandits at Tunga Village, leading to the successful recovery of Mrs. Abubakar.
Military authorities disclosed that the bandits shot Mrs. Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing under heavy pressure from advancing troops.
She was immediately evacuated to a military medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding positively.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring her full recovery and providing the necessary support to her family during this period.
Meanwhile, troops have continued operations aimed at tracking down and neutralising the perpetrators, while intensifying efforts to eliminate terrorist and bandit threats across Katsina State and other affected parts of the country.
The military reiterated its resolve to restore peace and security nationwide through sustained operations against criminal and terrorist groups.
