Troops Rescue 180 Hostages, Arrest 450 Terrorists in Major September Operations

The Defence Headquarters has announced significant gains in the war against terrorism, banditry, and oil theft, confirming that troops rescued 180 kidnapped victims and apprehended 450 terrorists and other criminal elements during various operations across the country in September 2025.

According to a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, at least 39 insurgents voluntarily surrendered to security forces.

Troops also recovered 63 assorted arms and 4,475 rounds of ammunition, while forces under Operation Delta Safe dismantled 41 illegal refining sites and thwarted crude oil theft valued at over ₦100 million.

The Defence Headquarters reiterated its commitment to intensifying counter-insurgency operations nationwide to safeguard lives, protect communities, and secure national assets.
