Troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded significant successes against terrorist elements during coordinated operations conducted in parts of the North East.
In a well-coordinated night and dawn surprise operation on January 28, 2026, troops of Sector 1 OPHK stormed terrorist positions at Bula Dalo, neutralising more than 12 terrorists and forcing others to flee in disarray. During the operation, the troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), and one multiple grenade launcher.
In a separate but deliberate operation at the Garno terrorist camp, troops further degraded terrorist capabilities by neutralising six additional terrorists. The operation also led to the destruction of terrorists’ life-support structures and the recovery of a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition.
Meanwhile, in a related development, troops of Sector 2 OPHK at Sabon Gari came under attack by ISWAP terrorists in the early hours of January 29, 2026. The assault was reportedly supported by multiple armed drones. Although the attackers briefly breached part of the defensive position, the troops swiftly repelled the attack, held their ground, and restored full control of the location with timely reinforcements from nearby units.
The military, however, confirmed that some gallant troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) lost their lives in the course of defending the location. An excavator and a lowbed were also damaged as a result of the armed drone attack.
Exploitation of the area is currently ongoing as troops continue operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and sustain pressure on their enclaves.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, on January 29, 2026.
