In line with the ongoing strategic repositioning of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for professionalism and more effective service delivery, the Lagos State Government has begun an intensive in-house Training Programme for 309 Junior Officers across Zones.
The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan disclosed during the commencement of the ‘Retraining Programme’ that the exercise was in line with the ‘Traffic Management and Transportation’ Pillar which is one of the cardinal programmes of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as captured in the administration’s THEMES Plus Agenda
Mr. Bakare-Oki stated further that the retraining exercise was primarily meant to create a new image for the Agency that would guarantee a refined and robust Traffic Management System (T.M.S) in the State as well as reduce traffic congestion across the Lagos metropolis.
He confirmed that the exercise, which would run for four days started with the retraining of the first batch of 81 Junior Officers both male and female and is expected to end on Thursday, 1st of February, 2024.
In his words, “We map out new retraining modules to aid effective execution of duties as well as enlighten our Officers on new innovative ways to optimise their operations to meet up with International standard and best practices in traffic management”.

Earlier in his welcome address, LASTMA Director of Human Capacity, Development and Specialised Training, Mr. Akinpelu Ayuba thanked the Government for approving the retraining programme for the Agency.
He maintained that the exercise would promote professionalism and quality road management service delivery across the State.
Course contents for the retraining exercise include Leadership Qualities, Operational Guidelines, Empathy and Emotional Management, Enforcement without Aggression, Traffic Incidents Management and Safety, Attitudinal Change in Traffic Management, Human Right Law Standards, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, Discipline, Ethics and Standard in Traffic Management, Enhanced Capacity, Service Efficiency and Reliability and Religious Discretion in Traffic Management
