Tourism Commissioner sponsors healthcare initiative in Alimosho
As a way of supporting Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s policy on quality healthcare delivery, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf has sponsored a three-day free medical healthcare initiative for residents of Alimosho.
The free medical outreach, which was carried out in collaboration with some pharmaceutical companies under the aegis of Moremi Goodwill Project, took place between Thursday, 24th and Saturday, 26th June 2021, at 28, Ipaja Road, Beside RCCG Ipaja and was attended by hundreds of residents within the area and environs.
Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, Akinbile-Yussuf stated that the focus on healthcare aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s plans for healthy residents as enshrined in the “Health and Environment” pillar in the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.
She affirmed that the efforts of the government were complemented, especially at the grassroots, by adding value and bringing quality healthcare delivery to Lagosians who are battling with one ailment or the other
.
Her words: “As a political representative of the people of Alimosho, I have over the years initiated several impactful programmes for members of my Constituency as a way of giving back to society. Last year, I sponsored some youths for a week-long youth development programme and also empowered some residents with loan facilities to start their individual businesses”.
The Commissioner, who asserted that there is a little difference between someone that is dead and someone without good health, urged the beneficiaries of the free programme to prioritise their health and always consult professionals from time to time.
While saying that the knowledge of one’s state of health increases chances of good health, Pharmacist Akinbile-Yussuf called on mothers to always prioritise their health, the same way they prioritise the health of their children, husbands and family members.
She also advised the beneficiaries of the free health initiative to always seek medical advice, stressing that the programme was not for only medical check-ups but also offered advisory medical assistance.
Lagosians from Agbado-Okeodo, Mosan-Okunola, Ayobo-Ipaja, Egbe-Idimu, Igando-Ikotun and environs benefitted from the free medical outreach which included Eye Tests, Sugar Level Checks, Hepatitis B Screening, Blood Pressure Checks, General Body Checkup, Dental Care, Scan and Chest X-ray as well as Pre/Post-Natal Care.
Among items given out to beneficiaries were Eyeglasses, Eye drugs, Dental drugs, Blood pressure medications, Anti-Malaria drugs, Vitamin A for all ages, Blood Tonic and Worm expeller.
