President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for increased investment by the Bolloré Group in Nigeria’s creative economy, particularly in film, entertainment and digital infrastructure.
The President made the call on Friday during a meeting with the Chairman of the Bolloré Group, Mr. Vincent Bolloré, in Paris, where he is currently on a working vacation.
The Bolloré Group’s media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music, as well as investments in fibre-optic infrastructure and related sectors.
During the meeting, the Group confirmed plans to deepen the localisation of its operations in Nigeria, with fresh investments targeted at film, entertainment and fibre-optic infrastructure.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Group described Nigeria as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance, citing the global success of Nollywood and Afrobeats and the growing international demand for Nigerian creative content.
President Tinubu welcomed the planned expansion, noting that Nigeria’s growing global cultural influence presents significant economic opportunities.
He said deeper localisation would drive increased production, investment and job creation while further strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global creative economy.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic growth, youth employment and digitalisation, stressing that investments in the creative and digital sectors would help develop local talent and strengthen critical infrastructure.
Tinubu also said such investments could position Nigeria as a strategic base for businesses seeking to serve the African continent and the wider global market.
He reiterated that the Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on building an economy where Nigerian talent, enterprise and cultural influence translate into greater opportunities and improved livelihoods for citizens.
