President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated that Nigeria remains a strong democracy built on constitutional guarantees of religious liberty and tolerance for all faiths.
In a statement, the President emphasized that since the inception of his administration in 2023, the government has maintained open and constructive engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders, while actively addressing security challenges affecting citizens across all regions and religions.
He stressed that the portrayal of Nigeria as a nation lacking religious tolerance does not reflect the country’s true character nor acknowledge the consistent and genuine efforts of the government to uphold freedom of religion and belief.
“Religious freedom and tolerance are central to our national identity and will always remain so. Nigeria firmly opposes any form of religious persecution,” President Tinubu declared.
The President further assured that his administration remains committed to working closely with the United States government and the international community to strengthen mutual understanding and enhance the protection of communities of all faiths across the country.
