Tinubu Celebrates Rescue of Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren, Commends Security Forces

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound joy over the successful rescue of the abducted children and teachers from Oriire Community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, commending the professionalism and courage of Nigeria’s security agencies in bringing the 56-day ordeal to a safe end.

The President praised the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for their coordinated military and intelligence-led operation, which secured the safe release of the victims without collateral damage. He also lauded the security operatives for arresting eight of the kidnappers while neutralising others involved in the crime.

 

President Tinubu acknowledged the pain and anxiety endured by the rescued children, their teachers, their families, and Nigerians throughout the period of captivity, describing the successful operation as a major relief for the nation.

 

He equally commended the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue mission and urged the state to strengthen security measures around schools to prevent similar incidents.

Expressing his delight, the President said:

“I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, after a military, police, and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists responsible for the attack and led to the arrest of eight others.

“This successful operation has ended over 50 days of anguish and brought immense relief to the affected families and the entire nation. On behalf of Nigeria, I commend the officers and men of our Armed Forces, the intelligence agencies, and the police for their bravery and dedication.”

President Tinubu also assured Nigerians that his administration would ensure justice for the rescued victims and for the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed by the kidnappers during the incident.

“I must also commend the Government of Oyo State for working closely with the Federal Government to bring this unfortunate incident to a successful conclusion,” the President added.

To support the victims’ recovery, President Tinubu directed the nation’s emergency response agencies to collaborate with the Oyo State Government in providing comprehensive medical care, psychosocial support, and other necessary relief services for the rescued children and teachers.
