President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police, replacing Kayode Egbetokun.

A Presidency source confirmed the development on Tuesday, noting that an official announcement is expected shortly.

“AIG Tunji Disu is the new IGP. Confirmed,” the source said, adding that the information had received double confirmation.

Efforts to reach the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

Disu recently assumed office as Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos. He is regarded as a seasoned operational officer with a track record of notable performance and reform-driven leadership across previous postings.

Further details on the leadership transition are expected in due course.
