Three people have been dragged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly forging the death certificate of one late Major Taiwo Mutairu Akangbe, in a bid to commit felony.

The defendants identified as Gloria Agubosim, 37; Olukoya Sunday, 58; and Adeite Solomon, 49 were arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and forgery

The prosecutor SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants conspired with others now at large to commit the offence on Sept. 17, 2024, at Shomolu in Lagos.

She told the court the court that the case was investigated by the Lagos Police Command’s Monitoring Unit, Ikeja, with ASP Bright Omokharo as Investigating Police Officer (IPO).

She alleged that the defendants conspired to forge the death certificate of a deceased, one late Major Taiwo Mutairu Akangbe, in a bid to commit felony.

The offence contravenes the provisions of sections 363(1), and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 they each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr L.A Owolabi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum the court adjourned the case until April 2, for hearing.

The offence for which the defendants are charged, could attract a penalty of up to 14 years imprisonment, if convicted.
