ILARO, Ogun State — Tears and grief enveloped Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday as family members, friends, colleagues and fans gathered to bid a final farewell to veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
The celebrated actor was laid to rest a day after his death on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66.
The burial ceremony was marked by prayers, tributes, tears and emotional moments as mourners reflected on the life, career and enduring legacy of the renowned actor.
Among the notable Nollywood stars who attended the ceremony were Femi Adebayo, Ireti Osayemi, Kunle Afod, Kazim Adeoti, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Fausat Balogun, Bolaji Amusan, Jide Kosoko, Olatayo Amokade and Yinka Quadri.
Videos and pictures that surfaced on social media captured emotional scenes from the burial ceremony, with several of Ogogo’s colleagues and friends paying their final respects as his remains were committed to the earth.
Yinka Quadri and other close friends and colleagues were visibly emotional as the remains of the late actor were lowered into the grave, bringing to a solemn close the final chapter of a remarkable career that spanned decades.
Ogogo’s death has continued to generate an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and admirers across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, who have described his passing as a significant loss to Nollywood and the Yoruba film community.
