Somolu LG Chairman ‘Dullar’ Applauds Sanwo-Olu on flood control

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been applauded for the flood control measures been put in place around areas within the State. The Governor is ensuring the construction of more bigger drainage systems within flood prone areas.

Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government eulogized the Governor for his prompt responsiveness to the yarns and aspirations of the people of Somolu which he communicated to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu few weeks ago.

According to the council helmsman, the efforts of Somolu Local Government administration in controlling the flood at Isaac John street junction of Iyana Igbobi bus-stop in Somolu has been complemented with a permanent solution by the Lagos State Government through the office of the Drainage and waterways management.

He stated that reconstruction of the cross-culvert will enable free-flow of waste water from Fadeyi to the bigger canal in the Myhoung Army Barracks in the area.

Meanwhile, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has pleaded with motorists and other road users plying Igbobi College Road to link Fadeyi-Jibowu area to link Fadeyi through Isaac John, Ogatimirin, Oniyo and Ayodele streets to continue their journey on Igbobi College Road.

However, traffic advisory has it that motorists should link Somolu from Jibowu through Fadeyi axis of Ikorodu Road for the few weeks it will take to complete the reconstruction of the cross-culvert and make it ready to ply.

Moreso, he enjoined the residents of the area and other road users to cooperate with the workers on the site as officers of Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army and Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) will be on ground to maintain law and order in ensuring an hitch free flow of traffic along the axis.
