The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has appealed to Nigerian youths to shelve their planned protest and engage in continuous dialogue, in the overall interest of the country.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Enitan Olukotun, in Abuja on Friday, Senator Abiru sought the understanding of all Nigerians, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is not unmindful of the peculiar socio-economic challenges confronting the people, which actually predated his administration.

He added that the President and all the political leadership of the country are frantically taking steps to address all the macro-economic misalignments, which are the bane of current hardship. Senator Abiru stated that in addition to the rafts of socio-economic intervention programmes, targeted at the most vulnerable Nigerians, including youths, the government is willing to engage with the people in other areas of concerns.

He therefore appealed to Nigerian youths to tow the path of understanding, and shelve the planned protest, which intelligence from security services suggested can be hijacked by enemies of the state.

Senator Abiru counselled the organisers of the planned protest to engage the government, which has shown commitment to reason with them and present their specific demands.

Tinubu, Lagos APC endorse Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat for second term

Following speculations flying around that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, may be denied his second term in office and that a Muslim candidate had been preferred to get the ticket, the National Leader of All Progressive Congress (APC),Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other strong members of the state chapter of the party have cleared air on their positions by officially endorsing Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, for another term in office.By making their positions public ahead of the gubernatorial primary, it is an indication that whichever candidate also wish to pick form of interest could go ahead to do so, but would not get their support nor be anointed by them regardless of relationship that existed before now.
