…Says President’s policies have restored economic stability, strengthened national confidence
The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has reaffirmed his firm support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, declaring his endorsement for a second term in 2027.
Speaking at the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders’ Forum 2025, held on Tuesday in Lagos, Abiru described President Tinubu’s leadership as “courageous, visionary, and transformative,” noting that his administration’s policies have repositioned Nigeria’s economy on the path of growth and fiscal discipline.
“Two years ago, Nigerians entrusted him with leadership at one of the most difficult moments in our modern history. The economy was distressed, public confidence shaken, and our national direction uncertain. Yet, true to his courage and visionary spirit, President Tinubu chose the harder but more honourable path — the path of reform, restructuring, and renewal,” Abiru stated.
The lawmaker commended the President’s bold economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange market, and the strategic redirection of public resources toward critical sectors such as education, infrastructure, and technology.
Highlighting key achievements of the administration, Abiru cited the NELFUND educational loan scheme benefitting over 510,000 students, the CrediCorp initiative which has disbursed ₦30 billion to 150,000 small business owners, the new ₦70,000 national minimum wage, and the Project Bridge — a 90,000km fibre optic network driving Nigeria’s digital transformation.
The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, also praised the productive collaboration between the National Assembly and the Executive, which he said has resulted in landmark legislations including the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, the Student Loan Act, Electricity Act Amendment, Data Protection Act, Police Reform Bill, Revenue Administration Harmonisation Bill, and the Startup Act Implementation Framework.
“These legislative interventions are the backbone of the President’s reforms, providing legal and institutional stability to drive the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
Abiru, who also serves as Chairman of the Southern Senators’ Forum, lauded Lagos’ pioneering role in progressive governance, recalling how Tinubu’s era as Lagos governor laid the foundation for fiscal innovation, internally generated revenue growth, and sustainable development — a model now being replicated nationwide.
“On behalf of the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District, and in concert with the collective will of our great party, I proudly and unequivocally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027,” Abiru declared.
He concluded by urging continued unity and collective support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as “a legacy of visionary leadership, courageous reform, and a united Nigeria built on progress and shared prosperity.”
