In commemoration of his 2021 birthday on Monday March 29th, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu has presented four(4) Borehole water Projects to four different communities in his Constituency.
The borehole projects, which were initiated under Hon. Kasunmu’s ARK COMMUNITY WATER INITIATIVE(ACWI), are located at Ojodu (Aina St), Yakoyo(Baale’s Palace), Ipodo Street (Ikeja) and Anifowose (Ikeja).
According to a statement from Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), “the ARK Community Water Initiative (ACWI) is an attempt at achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) numbers 1, 2 and 6 in our Constituency.
SDGs 6 targets availability of Clean Water and Sanitation, while SDGs 1 and 2 seek to eradicate Poverty and Hunger. When clean water is made available to the people, you are also tactically addressing the issue of Poverty and Hunger. This is the vision behind the water projects.”
Stating further, Hon. ARK said “the borehole projects at Ojodu, Yakoyo, Ipodo and Anifowose falls under ACWI Phase One, other communities in the Constituency will benefit under subsequent phases.
I am not unmindful of the fact that it is the duty of Lagos State Water Corporation(LSWC) to make potable water to Lagosians anywhere they are within the state and the Corporation is indeed trying their best but we will not rest on our oars until LSWC gives our people the best of pipeborne water . As legislators, we are looking at ways of making the Water Corporation serve our people better and more efficiently. So it is a two-prong approach; we are providing boreholes and also looking at the challenges facing the Water Corporation through the law.”
Speaking further, Hon. ARK thanked the community leaders for making spaces available for the projects and also urged them to manage and maintain the boreholes very well in order to serve our people efficiently”.
A notable Party and community Leader in Ojodu, Alhaji Oladipupo Atinsola cut the tape to commissioned the Water in Yakoyo while the APC Ward Chairman in Ward F, Alhaji Tajudeen Adeneye(a.k.a TADECO) who also doubles as a titled Chief, commissioned the Borehole on Aina Street, Ojodu. Both leaders stood-in for Hon. ARK who was marking his Birthday alongside Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on that day.
Party and Community leaders of note were also present at the commissioning ceremony at both locations.
At the site of Anifowose Ikeja Borehole, Hon. ARK was represented by the CDC Chairman, Alhaji Osiberu, Ikeja Ward D Councillor, Hon. Benjy Osundairo and other notable leaders while at Ipodo Community, the Councillor representing Ikeja Ward A, Hon. Shakiru Agunbiade, The CDA Chairman, former Councillor of the Ward, Hon. Femi Adeyemi as well as other key leaders performed the commissioning on behalf of Hon. Kasunmu.
The community leaders expressed their appreciations to Hon. ARK for the Borehole projects and promised to maintain them efficiently.
Hon. Kasunmu also donated Four (4) 2.5KVA Generators to power the Borehole machine whenever there is power outages.
