Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will inaugurate a series of newly completed road projects, further demonstrating his commitment to enhancing infrastructure and improving transportation across the state.

On Thursday, January 9, a network of five roads in the Ikeja Government Reservation Area (GRA) will be officially opened.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement on Monday, these include Oba Dosumu Street, Oduduwa Way, Oduduwa Crescent, Sobo Arobiodu Street, and Sasegbon Street, spanning a total of 6.134 kilometres.

He said the roads feature improved drainage systems to tackle perennial flooding in the area.

Additionally, the commissioner said six arterial roads covering 4.7 kilometres across Akoka, Bariga, and Gbagada would be commissioned.

The roads, which will be inaugurated on Thursday, January 9, include St. Finbarr’s Road, Asani Street, Tijani Ashogbon Street, Jagunmolu Street, Shogbamu Street, and Diya Street. They link key landmarks such as the University of Lagos Main Gate and Deeper Life Church in Gbagada.

Omotoso stated that the projects, scheduled for commissioning on January 9 and 10, underlined the Sanwo-Olu administration’s drive to deliver sustainable infrastructure that eases transportation and enhances residents’ daily lives.

“Residents are urged to remain observant and cooperate with the Lagos State Government to ensure that these roads are not vandalized.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration will continue to upgrade old roads and build more for the benefit of residents in fulfilment of his promise to Lagosians,” he said.
