Sanwo-Olu to commission Demurin Road, two others for enhanced connectivity

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to inaugurate another round of infrastructure projects, handing over Demurin Road in Kosofe Local Government Area on Thursday.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to inaugurate another round of infrastructure projects, handing over Demurin Road in Kosofe Local Government Area on Thursday.

Also scheduled for commissioning are Agidi Road and Church Street in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

This is contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of these projects, stating, “It is all about boosting connectivity and making life more comfortable for our people.”

According to Omotoso, the roads will provide crucial alternative routes linking the 3rd Axial Road with Ikorodu Road, easing traffic congestion and improving mobility.

Demurin-Agidi Road, a key arterial link in the densely populated Ketu area, connects residential estates, markets, and businesses.

The commissioner said the road served as a vital bypass to Ikorodu Road, linking the Third Axial Road at Alapere Housing Estate with key commercial hubs such as the Mile 12 International Commodities Market and Owode Onirin Auto Parts Market.

He said due to heavy traffic flow and inadequate drainage structures, Demurin-Agidi Road had deteriorated over time, leading to prolonged travel times and difficulties for road users.

Recognizing its economic importance, Omotoso stated that the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat approved a complete rehabilitation and upgrade to ensure durability and long-term sustainability.

He added that the commissioning of these roads reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing economic activity, and making daily commuting smoother for Lagos residents.
