Sanwo-Olu salutes Pedro’s contributions to Lagos at 70

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Otunba Femi Pedro, on his 70th birthday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu described Pedro as a visionary and selfless leader who made significant contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State and Nigeria.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted Pedro’s tenure as deputy to former Lagos State Governor, now President Bola Tinubu, noting that he was a devoted, trustworthy, and seasoned technocrat who worked tirelessly to lay the foundation for Lagos State’s economic viability.

“Otunba Pedro’s pragmatic leadership and his close collaboration with Asiwaju Tinubu helped position Lagos as a model state,” the Governor said.

“The foundation they built has continued to guide successive administrations in elevating Lagos to both national and international prominence.”

Sanwo-Olu also commended Pedro’s achievements as Chairman of the Lagos State Revenue Mobilisation Committee, noting how his expertise as a seasoned banker led to a significant boost in the state’s internally generated revenue.

He added: “On behalf of my wife, family, the good people and government of Lagos State, and members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and All Progressives Congress (APC), I join family, friends, and associates in celebrating Otunba Pedro on this milestone.

“I pray for his continued good health and strength as he joins the league of septuagenarians and continues his service to humanity, Lagos State, and Nigeria.”

Otunba Femi Pedro, a respected banker and visionary leader, turns 70 on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
