Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday showcased the ambitious Greenline Railway Project at the Africa Investment Forum in Rabat, highlighting it as a cornerstone of Lagos’ modern transport infrastructure.
Speaking on his Facebook page, the governor described the project as a continuation of the progress achieved with the Blue and Red Lines, forming a critical part of LAMATA’s Strategic Transport Master Plan. The 70-kilometre electric rail line is set to run from Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, easing congestion and driving commercial and industrial growth along the Lekki–Epe corridor.
“The Green Line builds on the progress we have already made with the Blue and Red Lines. It is a key part of LAMATA’s Strategic Transport Master Plan and reflects our commitment to a transport network that is fully connected, easy to navigate, and environmentally responsible,” he said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism over the strong interest shown by international financiers, noting that their response had exceeded expectations and demonstrated confidence in Lagos’ governance, economy, and infrastructure strategy.
“We are shaping the future of urban mobility in Africa, and Lagos is moving forward with purpose and momentum,” he added, emphasizing the state’s commitment to building a modern, efficient, and sustainable transport system.
