Sanwo-Olu Flags Off Return of Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state as part of efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state as part of efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

The governor disclosed this in a post on his official Facebook handle on Saturday evening, following the symbolic flag-off of the exercise earlier in the day at Mushin–Agege Motor Road in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment.

Sanwo-Olu stated that the sanitation exercise will officially resume on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and will subsequently hold on the last Saturday of every month between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at encouraging residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining cleanliness within their communities.

He urged Lagosians to make effective use of the two-hour sanitation window by stepping out to clean their surroundings, clear drains in front of their homes, and dispose of waste properly.

“The Lagos we all want will not appear overnight. It will come from the small actions we take together, street by street, from one local government area to another,” the governor stated.

Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the exercise and ensuring compliance, stressing that sustained community participation will help make Lagos cleaner, healthier, and more livable for all residents.
