Sanwo-Olu Commissions Fresh Food Hub in Pen Cinema, Agege

ABUJA, NIGERIA — August 12, 2026 — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Deep Offshore Oil and Gas Projects Incentives (Tax Remission) Order, 2026, a policy initiative designed to unlock up to $50 billion in deep offshore oil and gas investments, beginning with the approximately $10 billion Bonga South West project.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned the Fresh Food Hub at Pen Cinema, Agege, as part of efforts to strengthen food distribution and improve food security across the state.

The modern facility, designed to streamline the movement of food from farmers and suppliers to communities, is expected to make food distribution more efficient and organised.

Built on 7,000 square metres, the hub features space for hundreds of traders, dry and cold storage facilities, a dedicated seafood section, parking areas and electric vehicle (EV) charging points.

Beyond its physical infrastructure, the facility is designed to connect farmers, traders, retailers, institutional buyers and consumers within a more coordinated food distribution network.

Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Sanwo-Olu said Agege is one of the “middle-level hubs” in Lagos’ wider food distribution network, receiving supplies from the Central Food Security and Logistics Hub at Ketu-Ereyun.

“Together with hubs like Mushin, we are bringing food distribution closer to the people and strengthening food security across Lagos,” the Governor said.

The Agege Fresh Food Hub is expected to improve access to fresh produce, reduce inefficiencies in the supply chain and support a more resilient food distribution system across Lagos.
