The annual prestigious Lagos Panorama SDG Awards created to encourage and promote United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) in Lagos State was flagged off on Saturday as Member House of Representatives for Ikeja Federal Constituency, Rt. Honorable James Abiodun Faleke was presented with the Lagos Panorama SDG Most Distinguished Legislator Award for his outstanding performance in empowering members of his constituents, eradicate poverty and zero hunger for the year 2021.
Rt. Hon Faleke, who is also the Chairman House Committee for Finance, recently gave out 100 mini-buses and tricycles to youths of the Ikeja Federal Constituency, to enable them fend for themselves and their families. Other members of the constituents were empowered in numerous vocational training with cash grants to startup businesses that include fish farming, laptop computer and phone repairs, soap making and a host of others. Equipment ranging from cake oven, soap making machines, grinding machines, sewing machines, deep-freezers and generators to power, vulgarizing machines, mechanic machines and a host of others were distributed to beneficiaries after weeks of intensive vocational trainings batches by batches.
So far, well over 3,000 constituents of Ikeja Federal Constituency had benefited from the James Abiodun Empowerment (JAF) programme targeted at ameliorating the living standard of the people and eradicating poverty.
The Publisher and Editor of Lagos Panorama Magazine and Online News platform, Comrade Tayo Aderinola who presented the award to the recipient at the Constituency Office, Ogunmade Street, Ikeja, averred that the Federal Lawmaker was elected by the Editorial Board of the widely read sociopolitical magazine, for his unprecedented empowerment supports and magnanimity to the people of his constituency in the year 2021.
Aderinola noted that “We can attest to the fact that you have unprecedentedly empowered well over three-thousand members of the Ikeja Federal Constituency with different vocational trainings, startup cash grants and equipment, hence, our Editorial Board have elected to recognize and encourage your sincere efforts in eradicating poverty with the presentation of the ‘Lagos Panorama Most Distinguished Legislator Award’ in recognition of your sincere efforts for advancing the number one and two goals of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) of no poverty and zero hunger respectively in your Constituency for the year 2021”.
Rt. Hon Faleke in his response after he received the award, expressed his gratitude to the Lagos Panorama Crew “Thank you for recognizing our efforts and by the grace of God we’ll continue to give assistance to our people” affirmed the Akorede-Atunluse 1 of Ikeja.
The Lagos Panorama Sustainable Development Goals Awards is to identify truly meaningful grass-root developmental efforts by persons, State ministries, agencies, Local governments, non-profit organizations and corporate organizations. The categorization of these awards is in accordance with development indices of universal acceptance.
Other categories include corporate/agency distinguished awards and exemplary achievement awards for individuals who have excel and contributed to their respective field.
Aderinola who is also the author of the Iyaloja Playbook, a literary drama presentation based on the life and times of the late first market leader, Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji OON, officially presented copies of the book to the amiable Ikeja Federal Lawmaker.
