Lagos APC: “Mobilise Who? A Politician Rejected at Home Cannot Lead a National Revolt”
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed, in no uncertain terms, Rotimi Amaechi’s recent call for Nigerians to “mobilise” against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. According to the party, Amaechi’s statement is a reflection of political frustration rather than a credible national agenda.
Amaechi, a former Rivers State governor, is described by Lagos APC as a “political orphan” — disowned in his home state, politically irrelevant nationally, and steadily fading from the public scene. “In Rivers State today, mentioning Amaechi’s name in political discussions is viewed as a provocative joke,” the party said in a statement.
The APC questioned Amaechi’s ability to mobilise, pointing out that his so-called supporters are limited to a few loyalists in WhatsApp groups, politicians who abandoned him after the presidential primaries, and a Rivers electorate that no longer takes him seriously. “You cannot lead a national movement when your own backyard has padlocked the gate against you,” the party added.
Political Bitterness, Not National Agenda
Lagos APC argued that Amaechi’s problem is not President Tinubu, but political irrelevance. “It is always the loudest losers who shout the most about 2027. Amaechi’s noise is nothing more than the wounded cry of someone who has not healed from the humiliation of 2022,” the party stated.
Tinubu Delivering Results
The APC highlighted Tinubu’s achievements since assuming office, citing initiatives across education, finance, infrastructure, and national security:
NELFUND unlocking education for millions of Nigerians
CREDITCORP boosting small and medium enterprises nationwide
Record foreign direct investment from Qatar, UAE, Europe, and the Ogunlesi-led group
Modernisation of highways, railways, ports, and aviation
Reforms in agriculture, mining, and security stabilising Nigeria’s future
The party contended that these accomplishments make Tinubu’s 2027 re-election not a matter of possibility but an unfolding reality.
Amaechi Lacks Platform to Mobilise
“Where is your political structure? Where are your followers? Where is your relevance?” Lagos APC asked. “In politics, you cannot give what you don’t have. Amaechi cannot mobilise a nation when he cannot even command a polling unit.”
Final Word
The Lagos APC concluded that Amaechi’s call is not a rallying cry but a personal plea. “Nigerians are not fooled. You don’t defeat a performing President with a disgruntled politician who has lost his home, his base, and his relevance. Amaechi’s statement is a cry for help. Tinubu cannot be defeated. Amaechi cannot be resurrected. End of story.”
