Despite Nigeria’s semi-final loss to Morocco at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the team is still the best in Africa says Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade.

The Super Falcons’ quest for a 10th continental title came to an end with the semi-final defeat in the hands of the hosts Morocco on Monday.

Ajibade, who is one of the shining stars in Falcons, set up Uchenna Kanu for the game’s opener and it was deflected into the net by a Moroccan defender, few minutes after Halimatu Ayinde was shown a red card.

Morocco however took advantage of their numerical strength and equalized eight minutes later, through Sanaa Mssoudy.

The Super Falcons quest to regain the lead suffered setback as Ajibade was also given her marching orders for a foul, after a VAR check to reduce Nigeria to just nine players.

The team however held on until extra time, but eventually lost 5-4 in the penalty shoot out.

“Words ain’t enough to describe the passion, resilience , tenacity of this @NGSuper_Falcons team, we remain the best. Super proud of you all ” Ajibade wrote on her social media page.

The Striker has three goals and three assists in five games for the Super Falcons in the competition.

She will miss the opportunity to add to her tally when Nigeria clash with Zambia in a third place match.
