PS, Ministry Of Local Government Hosts Lagos Youth Ambassadors

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa has commended the Ministry of Youth and Social Development for its sustained efforts in youth development across Lagos State.

 

 

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa has commended the Ministry of Youth and Social Development for its sustained efforts in youth development across Lagos State.

The commendation came during a meeting with a delegation of Youth Ambassadors representing various divisions of the State at her office in Alausa, Ikeja.

Mrs. Bolarinwa praised the Ministry of Youth and Social Development’s initiatives, emphasising that “the youth of today are indeed the leaders of tomorrow,” stressing the importance of equipping young people with skills, values, and opportunities to thrive

While recalling that her career in the Lagos State Civil Service started as a Youth Development Officer, she highlighted her enduring passion for youth empowerment.

She further outlined the Ministry of Local Government’s mandate, which includes overseeing all 57 Local Government/Council Development Areas, Community Development Associations, Chieftaincy Affairs, rural community development, and youth employment initiatives which align with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Mrs. Bolarinwa expressed the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with the Youth Ambassadors on rural empowerment programmes, capacity building, and promoting social inclusion at the grassroots level.

Leader of the delegation, Mr. Olukosi Julius, Director of Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, explained that the Youth Ambassadors Programme aims to develop young leaders across the state. Selected from over 50 applicants per division, noting that the ambassadors’ visit aims to familiarise themselves with the Ministry’s activities.

He, therefore, thanked the Permanent Secretary for her reception and affirmed the Ambassadors’ commitment to promoting peace, unity, and youth participation in their divisions.

The delegation included selected ambassadors from the Ibile Divisions – Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.

Highlights of the visit included presentations of the Ministry’s programmes and interactive sessions between the Permanent Secretary and the Youth Ambassadors.

Also, in attendance were all directors and management staff of the Ministry.
