Ajala Ganiyu Olawale (A.G.O) is a prominent figure in Ikeja politics and an aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikeja Constituency 02.
Born over five decades ago in Ebute Metta, Lagos Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State, he hails from Gbagura in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State. He is the son of the late Alhaji Busair Akanbi Ajala and late Alhaja Rawdah Abike Ajala (née Adetoyinbo).
Ajala had his primary and secondary education in Lagos before proceeding to the University of Ilorin in 1990, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Second Class Upper Division honours in 1995. He undertook his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kaduna State, serving with the 1st Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Kawo.
Driven by a passion for academic excellence, he obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) in 1998. He later pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree at Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2016 and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar in 2017 after completing his training at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. He further earned a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Constitutional Law.
Professionally, Ajala has built a diverse career spanning legal practice, public service, and consultancy. He has worked with organisations including World Courier Nigeria Ltd., Benaf General Services Ltd., Ibikunle Amosun & Co., Wole Olanipekun & Co., and Salako Adewale & Co., Abuja. He currently serves as the Principal Partner at Abd’ Ghaniy Wale Ajala & Co., a legal and property consultancy firm based in Ikeja, Lagos.
His public service record includes serving as Chairman of the Revenue Committee, Ojodu LCDA; External Solicitor on Revenue Recovery for Ikeja Local Government; Special Adviser on Youth and Sports Development to Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke during his tenure as Chairman of Ojodu LCDA; and Senior Legislative Aide to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, at the National Assembly.
Ajala’s political journey dates back to the early 1990s when he served as Youth Coordinator for the “Hope ’93” presidential campaign of Chief M.K.O. Abiola. He later held several positions across different political platforms, including Assistant Secretary of the Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN) in Ikeja (1995–1996), Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikeja (2001–2003), Coordinator of the PDP Councillor Aspirants Forum for Lagos State (2004), and Special Adviser to the PDP Chairman, Lagos State (2005).
In 2006, he joined the Action Congress (AC), later Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), where he served as Financial Secretary of Ojodu LCDA in 2007 and Legal Adviser in 2012. Following the merger that birthed the All Progressives Congress (APC), he became Legal Adviser of the party in 2017 and currently serves as Organising Secretary (2022 to date).
He also coordinated the Ojodu campaign for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) during the 2014 Lagos West Senatorial election and served as a member of the House of Representatives (Lagos East) screening committee in 2019. In 2023, he was a member of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and in 2025, he served as Director General of the Local Government Election Campaign in Ojodu LCDA.
Ajala is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation.
Beyond politics and law, he has maintained a longstanding relationship with the media. As an undergraduate at the University of Ilorin, he was a political and social affairs reporter with the Fire Point Press Club in 1991, rising to Senior Reporter in 1993. He also served as Director of Sponsorship for the University of Ilorin Collegiate and was recognised as Distinguished Image Maker of the Year in 1995 by the Union of Campus Journalists. He was active in student leadership as a Student Union leader and honorary member of parliament of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
A loyal and committed member of the All Progressives Congress, Ajala is widely regarded by supporters as a dedicated party man with a long-term vision for institutional growth and grassroots development. His advocacy for community service and social responsibility across Ikeja Federal Constituency underscores his belief that legislative representation must be practical, measurable, and people-driven.
Ajala Ganiyu Olawale is married to a civil servant and is blessed with three children.
