The Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has urged party members across the state to move beyond the recently concluded primary elections and unite behind the party’s quest for victory in the 2027 general elections.
Ojelabi made the call on Monday while addressing hundreds of youths from the Badagry Division who gathered at the Lagos APC State Secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, for the “Thank You, Asiwaju” solidarity rally. The event was organised to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for promoting youth participation and strengthening internal democracy within the party.
The rally attracted party faithful from Ojo, Badagry, Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Areas, who commended the APC leadership for creating greater opportunities for youths and women in governance and political leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Ojelabi praised the youths for their unwavering loyalty to the party and their commitment to the progressive ideals championed by President Tinubu.
He stressed that while the primaries provided a platform for healthy competition among aspirants, the exercise had been successfully concluded and all party members must now close ranks and work towards securing victory for the APC in 2027.
“The primaries have come and gone. The bigger task before us is winning the 2027 general elections. Every member, irrespective of the outcome of the primaries, must remain committed to the collective interest of our party. This is the time for reconciliation, unity and grassroots mobilisation,” he said.
The Lagos APC Chairman also lauded the emergence of Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, describing it as a significant milestone that reflects the APC’s commitment to youth inclusion, gender representation and leadership development.
According to him, the enthusiasm displayed by the youths at the rally underscores widespread confidence in the party’s leadership and decisions.
He appealed to members who may still feel dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries to embrace reconciliation and contribute to the party’s success.
“No individual ambition is greater than the future of our party. We must remain united and work together as one family. Victory in 2027 will require the support, commitment and sacrifice of every member,” Ojelabi stated.
He further called on party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and work towards securing a second term for the President.
Ojelabi also urged members to rally behind the Lagos APC governorship ticket led by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his running mate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, expressing confidence that the pair represents competence, continuity and inclusive leadership.
The rally concluded with renewed pledges from youths across the Badagry Division to mobilise support at the grassroots and ensure victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
