President Bola Tinubu would declare open the 2023 annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on Sunday, August 27, in Abuja.

President of the association, Yakubu Maikyau SAN, made the disclosure on Saturday at a press conference where he said that almost 17,000 thousand members had confirmed their participation in the conference.

With the theme ‘Getting it right, charting the course for Nigeria’s nation-building‘, Maikyau said the conference would center on security, economy and administration of justice in the country.

He said the theme of this year’s conference became pertinent because being a group with the largest number of members anywhere in the world, it is the responsibility of NBA to exercise the influence the law profession has on the society positively toward building a virile and prosperous nation.

While disclosing that the conference would work assiduously on access to justice for all, Maikyau also assured that NBA would work with the legislature and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on the relevant legislative reforms needed to achieve the goal, in addition to judiciary reforms.

The NBA president, however, assured that the impacts of the resolutions of the conference would not be long in being felt as the government would be engaged for their implementation.

The conference runs till Friday, September 1, 2013.
