President Buhari Appoints New DG for Centre for Disease Control

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa as the new Director General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa as the new Director General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

His appointment came on the heels of the naming of the outgoing Director General, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, as the Assistant Director General of the World Health Organisations Health Emergency Intelligence The President has named him as a member of this important committee.

Adetifa studied for his undergraduate medical training at the University of Ilorin, Kwara, Nigeria and completed residency training in Paediatrics at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos, Nigeria.

He was awarded the Fellowship of the West Africa College of Physicians in Paediatrics. He studied for the MSc in Epidemiology at the School and got his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Adetifa joined the School in June 2014 and worked overseas as a Clinical Epidemiologist at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme,Kilifi, Kenya .
