A Funeral Service of tribute was held earlier today at King’s Court Redeem Christian Church, situated on Oyetubo Street off Awolowo Way, Ikeja, for the late Council Chairman, featuring Pastor Ephraim Osunde’s sermon ‘Circle of Death and Eternity’, drawn from Genesis 5:1-8/44-46, which extolled Hon Olakanle’s virtues as a humble and unassuming individual.

The Lagos State Governor’s representative and Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, praised Hon Olakanle as a diligent leader committed to the well-being of his constituents.

Mr. Ayinde assured the family of the deceased of his commitment to providing both personal and government support for their welfare.

He also advised the successor to continue implementing the developmental initiatives of the late chairman and ensure the sustained impact of his enduring legacy.

The funeral observances started on Wednesday evening with a respectful candlelight procession, led by youths from the Ikeja Federal Constituency, proceeding from the deceased’s Peace Estate residence, off Clay bus stop, to the Council’s secretariat on Community road, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.

On Thursday, Ikeja Federal Constituency’s Ikeja, Ojodu, and Onigbongbo Legislative Councils held a joint Valedictory Plenary Session in the newly constructed Onigbongbo LCDA Main hall.

Hon Kayode Opayemi, Leader of Onigbongbo Legislative Council, began the tribute ceremony at the Plenary session, expressing deepest sympathies on behalf of the local legislatures to the immediate family and the Onigbongbo Community.

Honorable Ayotunde Adenuga, Leader of Ikeja Legislative Council, offered a poignant tribute, praising the late Chairman as a valued friend and brother who shared his insights and generously assisted all who had the opportunity to meet him.

In a similar gesture, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira, Ojodu Legislative Council Leader, lauded Hon. Olakanle’s notable accomplishments and unwavering commitment to his constituents, expressing sympathy and prayers for the family of the late chairman.

A delegation from the Lagos State Conference 57 Councils Chairmen joined Hon. Rakiya Hassan, Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, and other dignitaries, including Executive Members, Legislative Arm representatives, Management, Staff, Traditional Rulers, Party leaders, members, family, friends, and supporters, for a Night-Wake Keep in honor of late Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman.

The Thursday’s wake keep and service of songs, held at the Grandeur Event Center on Billings Way, Oregun, provided an opportunity for members of Conference 57, the umbrella organization for Lagos State Council Chairmen, to extend their sincerest condolences and pay tribute to the late Hon. Oladotun Olakanle (RIP).
