PHOTO NEWS: Lagos State Imota Rice Mill Nears Completion

…Set to Produce 38 Metric Tonnes per Hour

The Lagos State Government owned Imota Rice Mill is billed to kick off in March next year, The 38 metric tonnes per hour mill will be one of the biggest on the continent when completed. It is expected to throw up 1000 to 1,500 jobs & positively impact the rice value chain.

Governor of Lagos State, H.E Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu has visited the site, proposed and implemented the expansion of the rice mill capacity from the initial scheduled capacity.

On completion, the imota rice mill, consisting, 3 warehouses, 16 silos with a storage capacity of 40 metric ton each, on a 22-hectare facility, will be the biggest in West Africa.

The mill is projected to produce a capacity of 2.8 million bags of 50kg rice per annum which will serve the common good of the Nigerian economy and save a whooping $500m spent on smuggled rice.
